Community Membership Agreement

By registering as a member, you agree to comply with the bylaws, policies, and decisions of the Eritrean Community Association of Edmonton (ECAE). Membership is based on mutual respect, accountability, and commitment to the ECAE.

• Membership is voluntary and subject to review and approval by the ECAE.
• Members must be 18 years of age or older, reside in Edmonton and surrounding areas, and must not be members of another Eritrean organization with a similar mandate.
• Members must respect the diversity, cultural values, traditions, leadership, and unity of the membership at all times.
• Providing false, misleading, or incomplete information may result in suspension or termination of membership.
• Membership fees, once paid, are non-refundable.
• The ECAE reserves the right to suspend or revoke membership in cases of misconduct, violation of bylaws, or actions harmful to the health and well-being of the Association.
• Probation Period: New members are placed under a one (1) year probation period starting from the date of membership approval.
• During the probation period, members are eligible to vote in elections, but are not eligible to run for elected positions or participate in sponsorship programs.
• Full membership rights, including eligibility for elected positions and sponsorship programs, begin only after the successful completion of the probation period (one year).
• Members are expected to uphold the reputation of the Association and act in a manner that promotes harmony, cooperation, and mutual respect within the community.
• Identification & Privacy: Government-issued identification, if provided, is collected solely for membership verification purposes, including preventing duplicate or fraudulent registrations. Identification documents are securely stored, access is restricted to authorized administrators only, and the information is not shared with any third party. Members may request review of their identification data after verification, subject to legal or administrative requirements.
